Kaufman Trailers was founded by Robb Kaufman in 1987 when he was a 26-year-old. At that time Rob was a solopreneur working hard to support his growing family. More impressively, he founded the company when he had a full-time job at a furniture factory in Thomasville, NC.
Today, Kaufman Trailers is perhaps the best-known trailer business in America. The brand offers a wide product line with several axle packages and length options. As you’d expect from any industry leader, the company offers a range of customization options.
But the best part is that the company’s sales reps expertly walk every customer through building a trailer best suited for their needs. The reps are trained about the specifications and know all the details of the company’s trailers.
Kaufman Trailers makes their trailers available through their dealer network across America for a reasonable price.
In this post, we’ll give you an overview of the company’s product lines and features so you can determine whether it offers a trailer that might meet your needs. Types of Trailers Kaufman Trailers Offers
Kaufman Trailers offers eight classes of trailers:
#1 Utility Trailers
The company offers both single- and tandem-axle utility trailers. These are available in landscaper-style designs, with top rails and swing-up gates. Trailers are also offered in the flat wood floor style with ramps that slide into the trailer’s rear.
All three types of utility trailers are offered in three lines: Basic, Standard, and Deluxe. The features you get will depend on the trailer you get and also on the line of products you choose.
For instance, the basic single-axle landscape trailers feature a basic mainframe. On the other hand, in the Standard and Deluxe lines, a heavy-duty mainframe is used with heavier-than-industry-average cross members. Spring-assists gates are offered only on the Deluxe line, with steps in the front and behind the fenders.
#2 Gooseneck Trailers
Kaufman Trailers offers six types of gooseneck trailers in all GVWR ranges, including flatbed-style trailers in single and dual-wheel versions. Equipment-style gooseneck trailers are also available, with the floor integrated between the fenders.
The company also offers car hauler trailers in two- and three-car versions. Two-truck versions are also available. Kaufman Trailers also offers a whole range of detachable gooseneck trailers that can carry up to 55 tons.
#3 Flatbed Trailers
Kaufman Trailers defines a flatbed trailer as one with a deck over the tires and no fenders. The company offers these trailers in six models, with their standard flatbed trailer line being capable of handling between 14,000 and 25,000 lbs.
The other available lines include heavy equipment, drop deck, and deluxe paver. A removable gooseneck trailers (RGN) family of trailers is also available. Interestingly, the flatbed trailer family is also available in gooseneck hitch versions.
#4 Equipment Trailers
The Kaufman Trailers equipment trailer line is one of the company’s most popular product lines. According to the company, an equipment trailer has the floor between the fenders, making it different from what’s called a deckover trailer, which has the floor over the tires.
The company’s equipment trailers are available in three lines, including a tilt equipment trailer line. Virtually every equipment trailer Kaufman Trailers offers is built with channel iron frames and heavy-gauge diamond plate fenders.
#5 Car Haulers
The Kaufman Trailers brand is most popular for its car haulers. The company offers models that can haul between one and six cars. The wedge trailers are the company’s most popular line of car trailers.
But you can also get your hands on tilt trailers, gooseneck trailers, double-deck trailers, and golf car trailers. All of these are purpose-built with quality and longevity in mind.
#6 Dump Trailers
The entire line of dump trailers offered by Kaufman Trailers is designed in the low-profile style, meaning that the floor sites between the tires and the fenders are positioned outside the dump box.
All the models the company offers, except the 8,000 GVWR model, come with loading ramps that slide in from the trailer’s rear under the bed.
The dump trailers are available in three capacities: light, medium, and heavy duty. The company’s best heavy-duty gooseneck options are offered in package deals, including an adjustable gooseneck coupler, a scissor lift, radial tires, a 12,000 lb drop foot jack, and a sealed wiring harness with trouble-free lifetime LED lights.

#7 Log Trailers
Like any other trailer type Kaufman Trailers sells, its log trailers also tend to surpass industry standards. These are offered in three straight frame, plantation, and flat top configurations.
All three configurations come with fully-fabricated main frame beams, cross members, continuously formed bolster caps, and 36″ standard gusseting. If you need log trailers built with quality as the top priority, you cannot go wrong with this company’s log trailers.
#8 Cargo Trailers
The company offers three grades of enclosed cargo trailers: Standard, Deluxe, and Premium.
Regardless of the grade, all of the company’s cargo trailers involve square and rectangular tube constructions, guaranteeing better durability than similar options offered by other companies. Z-posts or hat-posts are not used in any of the models.
Further, all the enclosed trailers the company offers come with Dry Max flooring that doesn’t swell up and get damaged on exposure to water. Kaufman Trailers offers single-axle cargo trailers, 7′ wide tandem enclosed trailers, and 8.5′ wide enclosed car haulers.
